Nigeria Women’s U-17 team, Flamingos will now play against Colombia’s U-17 Women’s team in the semifinal at the ongoing FIFA Women’s U-17 World Cup in India.
Flamingos broke the quarterfinal jinx on Friday beating the USA 4-3 on penalties to secure a spot in the final four, Colombia also beat Tanzania to qualify for the last four.
Colombia defeated Tanzania 3-0 in their quarterfinal game on Saturday to book a place in the semis where Flamingos are waiting.
The game will be played on the 26th of Wednesday at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium or locally known as The Fatorda situated in Margao, Goa, India.
In 2010, Nigeria eliminated the US on penalties in the quarter finals and progressed to the semifinal, where they clashed with Colombia. Nigeria defeated Colombia in the semifinals of the World Cup.
This year, the Nigeria under-17 Flamingos will be meeting with Colombia and we hope they will replicate same feat.
